# Marketplace

Using the Marketplace: ordering context, overview, search and filters, product detail page, assigning services and base services.

**Path:** sidebar → "My company" → **"Marketplace"** (managers: "My organization" → "Marketplace"; for yourself: "My workspace" → "My Marketplace")

In the Marketplace you find all services your company can obtain: the range offered by the provider or the suppliers, and your own internal services. It works like an online shop: search, configure, assign.

{% hint style="info" %}
You only see prices if your role is allowed to display prices. In self-service, the administrator can hide prices from employees.
{% endhint %}

## Who are you ordering for? (Ordering context)

The Marketplace remembers **where** you opened it from and only shows matching services. At the top, an avatar shows who or what you are currently ordering for.

| Entry point | How to open it | What you see |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| **General** | sidebar → "My company" or "My organization" → "Marketplace" | all services you are allowed to order |
| **One employee** | Employee → "Services" tab → "Book new service" | services for employees (incl. software for their workplace) |
| **Several employees** | Employee list → select → "Actions" → "Assign services" | as above, for all selected employees |
| **One location** | Location → "Book new service" | only services for locations |
| **One cloud service** | "Service catalog" → "Cloud services" → cloud service → "Add" | only cloud products |
| **An existing service** | Service detail page → "Services & extras"                    | only matching add-ons                                       |
| **For yourself** | "My workspace" → "My Marketplace" | only offers released for self-service |

Further rules:

* When you order for employees or locations, offers that do not deliver to their country are hidden.
* Location managers only see location-related services, even in the general Marketplace.

### Who can a service be assigned to?

Each service defines which targets it can be assigned to:

| Assignment                           | Example                                               |
| ------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| **Employee** | Laptop, smartphone, software license |
| **Location** (including warehouse) | Printers, network equipment, stock devices |
| **Employee (optional) and location** | Devices that move between employees and the warehouse |
| **Cloud**                            | Cloud resources                                       |
| **Global** (entire company) | Base services such as a tenant |
| **Existing service**                 | Add-ons such as a warranty extension                  |

The assignment type is fixed and cannot be changed when ordering.

## The Marketplace overview

At the top you find **search**, **filters** and the ordering context. Below that, if available:

1. **"Templates"**: ready-made packages, e.g. "Sales equipment", that you assign deliberately (see [Templates in the Marketplace](/dokumentation/procurement/marketplace/ordering-templates.md)). The onboarding templates at locations and groups do not appear here.
2. **"Service catalog"**: base services your company does not have yet (see below).
3. **"Highlights"**: featured services.
4. **"Categories"**
5. **"Suppliers"**: shown from two suppliers upwards. Your own services appear as **"Internal"**.

## Search and filters

As soon as you enter a search term, the view switches to the search results. The search also takes features and options into account: a search term like "Gold", for example, finds all devices in that color.

| Filter                | Effect                                         |
| --------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **"Categories"** | Category tree (up to 3 levels) |
| **"Highlights"**      | only featured services                         |
| **"Stock available"** | only services with free stock in the warehouse |
| **"Regions"**         | by delivery country                            |
| **"Suppliers"** | by supplier (all suppliers in one list) |
| **Product features** | e.g. storage, color, display size |

"Clear filters" resets all filters. Each product card shows the category, image, name, key features, the price of the default offer (e.g. "Purchase price", "monthly rental", "monthly lease", "monthly mobile contract") and, if applicable, "Stock available".

## The product detail page

### Information

Name, category (for your own services additionally "Internal"), images, **"Description"** (possibly with "Show detailed description"), **"Features"** and **"Service agreement"**.

### Configuring

1. **Choose options**, e.g. storage, color, edition. Mandatory options are marked; invalid combinations and versions without a price are locked.
2. Add **"Additional services"**:
   * **Linked services**: are requested and approved together with the main service; "Mandatory" services always automatically. They take over the employee, location, group, delivery address and cost center of the main service.
   * **Add-ons**: extra services such as insurance, setup or pickup.
3. In the summary on the right:
   * Choose the **offer type**: "Purchase", "Rent", "Mobile contract" or "Leasing" (only the available ones are shown).
   * Choose the **term**. Shown are the term, the renewal (e.g. "12 months recurring till cancellation" or "No automatic renewal") and, if applicable, regions.
   * **"Preferred delivery"**: "Direct order" with a requested date (empty = "Immediately") or, if available, "Pre-order" (see [Stock, pre-order and call-off](/dokumentation/procurement/stock-pre-orders-and-call-offs.md)).
   * **"Quantity"** (if the target is already fixed).
   * Availability, e.g. "Available", "Goods in transit", "Delivery in approx. X - Y days", "Order-related order".
   * "Offered by" and, if applicable, "Invoice issuer".

The prices for options, add-ons and linked services are included in the total price (one-time and monthly).

### Assigning

| Situation                           | Button                                    |
| ----------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| "Marketplace" (company)             | **"Assign"**                              |
| "My Marketplace" (self-service)     | **"Request approval"**                    |
| With the "Skip approval" permission | Arrow on the button → **"Skip approval"** |

If the target is still open (general Marketplace), "Assign" opens a dialog:

* Select employees or locations; filter by "Location" and "Department"/"Group".
* Per row: "Place of use" (company, home office, warehouse), "Quantity", "Preferred delivery", "Reserved for (group)" and "Justification".
* Options "Hide already assigned …" and "Hide … that cannot be selected".
* Up to 2,000 services per process.
* Click **"… Assign services"**.

For software, equipme checks whether the employee already has a workplace and otherwise offers to book one as well.

Depending on the settings, you are asked for a **"Justification"** (5 to 500 characters). Afterwards, "Thank you – Services have been added" appears. The items are now in the [order requests](/dokumentation/procurement/order-requests-and-checkout.md) or waiting for [approval](/dokumentation/procurement/approvals.md).

### Assigning from stock

If there is free stock in the warehouse, the detail page shows the **"New"** and **"From inventory"** tabs. Under "From inventory", you choose a specific warehouse device (filters "Warehouse" and "Reservation") instead of placing a new order. More under [Stock, pre-order and call-off](/dokumentation/procurement/stock-pre-orders-and-call-offs.md).

### Self-service activation (administrators)

Administrators see the **"Self-service activation"** section on the detail page:

* **"Global self-service"**: The service can be requested in self-service.
* **"Tags"**: Only employees with at least one matching tag see the offer.
* **"Approve automatically"**: Approved requests are ordered immediately, but only in the "Automatic approval" mode. It does not skip an approval (see [Configuring approvals](/dokumentation/procurement/approval-settings.md)).

Details: [Setting up self-service](/dokumentation/self-service/self-service-setup.md).

### "Retrospective entry"

For your own company-wide services, authorized users can use **"Retrospective entry"** to create active services immediately ("Create active services" dialog with an activation date). Approval and ordering are skipped.

## Base services and dependencies

Some services require a **base service**. Example: a Microsoft 365 license needs the Microsoft 365 tenant.

* If the base service is missing, the detail page shows: "There are dependencies that must be met in order to use this service to its full extent …", with a link to the required service.
* Request the base service first. It counts as present as soon as it is active **or** requested.
* Each base service exists only once per company.
* For templates and in self-service, equipme automatically creates missing base services as an additional request.

## Frequently asked questions

**Why do I only see a few services?**

The entry point determines the selection; for example, a location only shows location services. Also check for active filters. In self-service, you only see released offers.

**Why can't I assign a service?**

Possible reasons: a mandatory option is missing or the combination is invalid, a mandatory linked service cannot be ordered, a base service is missing, the offer does not deliver to the target's region, the service is no longer available, or it is not released for self-service ("Not approved").

**What does "The selected offer is not available for the selected delivery address" mean?**

The offer does not deliver to the country of the delivery address. Choose a different offer or a different delivery address.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://hub.equipme.io/dokumentation/procurement/marketplace.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
