# Custom links

Custom links: show your own links (e.g. intranet, policies, forms) as a group in the sidebar for all employees.

**Path:** Settings → **"Custom links"** (administrators, standalone customers only)

With custom links you add a group with your own links to the sidebar (visible to all employees), e.g. to your intranet, IT policies, forms or training.

## Naming the menu group

The links appear in their own menu group (default name "Further resources"). Select the language at the top → **"Edit"** → **"Name of the menu group"** (max. 50 characters) → "Save". Repeat this for each language you need.

## Creating a link

Click the plus tile (maximum **20** links):

| Field              | Note                                                                                                                        |
| ------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **"Display name"** | max. 50 characters, per language |
| **"URL"** | must start with `https://`; can differ per language |
| **"Open as"** | **"Link"**: opens in a new browser tab (recommended). "iFrame" embeds the page in equipme; many websites do not allow this. |
| **"Roles"** | Which roles the link is visible to (required), e.g. only "User" for employee links |

Links can be edited, deleted and sorted by drag & drop.

**Display language:** equipme shows the link in the user's current language, otherwise in English, otherwise in the first language maintained.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://hub.equipme.io/dokumentation/settings/custom-links.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
