Roles and rights
Roles decide what each person can see and do in your portal. Think of them as keys: everyone gets the ones they need for their job, and nobody carries a full set they never use.
Why roles matter here
Most people in your organisation only ever need to do one thing in equipme: order what they need for their work and see what they already have. A small number of people need much more, because they set up locations, invite employees, approve requests or manage what is on offer.
Without that separation, one of two things happens. Someone cannot do their job because the part they need is not available to them, or somebody changes a setting that affects everyone without realising it.
Roles draw that line for you.
How to assign a role
Go to Settings → Roles and Permissions. You will see a list of all the roles you can assign.

Pick a role from the list. Click on it to open the details.
Open the Users tab. This shows everyone who currently holds this role.
Select Add. Choose the people who need it. You can pick several at once.
Confirm and save. The permissions take effect straight away.
A few things worth knowing
Start with the roles that already exist. equipme comes with standard roles that cover most situations. Check whether one of them fits before building something of your own.
Give people what they actually need. Someone who only orders equipment for themselves does not need access to your company settings, even if you trust them completely.
Several roles at once are fine. People often have mixed jobs. If somebody genuinely needs what two roles give them, assign both.
Revisit them now and then. People change teams, take on new responsibilities or leave. Permissions that nobody reviews tend to grow rather than shrink.
What you see on screen
The Roles and Permissions page lists every available role with a short explanation of what it controls. Open one and switch to the Users tab to see who holds it and to add more people.
Changes take effect immediately. There is no approval step and no waiting period, so the person you just added will see the difference as soon as they reload the page.
