Automatic Supervisor Role Assignment
In many organizations, knowing who reports to whom is simply structural information. It does not necessarily mean that every supervisor should be able to see their team's services or act on their approvals.
You can now separate the two. Supervisor information and the permissions that come with the Supervisor role are handled independently.
What changed
Previously, an employee received the Supervisor role automatically as soon as they were set as another employee's supervisor. This applied whether the assignment was entered manually or came in through HR Sync.
If you only need the reporting relationship as organizational data, that behavior grants more access than intended.
Turn automatic assignment off
You find the setting under:
Settings → Roles and rights → Supervisor → Settings
The option Automatically assign this role controls whether the Supervisor role is assigned when an employee is selected as someone's supervisor.

Enabled keeps the existing behavior. Employees automatically receive the Supervisor role when they are assigned as a supervisor.
Disabled means the supervisor relationship is still stored in the employee profile, whether it was entered manually or synchronized through HR Sync. The Supervisor role and its permissions are simply not granted along with it.
Availability
This setting is available in customer environments, including managed and standalone customer environments. It is not available in supplier environments.
